Everyone loves smartphone apps, and Thailand is obviously no exception. App stores such as the Apple App Store and Google Play in fact contains several million apps, with just about everything that you could ever need for work, play, and relaxation.
However, earlier this month, 425,000 mysteriously vanished from the App Store in Thailand.
During its routine monitoring of apps, mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower found that thousands of apps had apparently disappeared from the country’s App Store on June 3rd. Initially, the number of missing iOS apps was estimated at around 19,000, but after investigating the matter, the scale of missing apps was much larger – 425,290 apps in all.
For its part, Apple confirmed that an “unspecified number” of apps were accidentally removed when the firm repriced apps in the local currency, the Thai Baht, this month. It also says the engineering bug was fixed within 48 hours.
A data scientist at Sensor Tower however, says the apps were not available on the store for as long as six days.
